Hello, My name is Rebecca Belcher, I am 21 years old and I am from Adelaide, South Australia. 

I am proud to be participating in Tread Together, a 24 hour treadmill challenge in support of Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA), to raise much-needed awareness of suicide, and funds towards its prevention.  I will be participating for 1 hour and 15 minutes at the Kilkenny Anytime Fitness. 

 

Almost two years ago my brother Matthew passed away from suicide.This demon hits really close to home for me and I hope that this fundraiser can help shed some light in someones darkness. I would never wish the pain that my brother felt, or the pain my family and myself feel every day on anyone. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in Australia, I hope in some way or another I will benefit the cause whether it is raising money, awareness, or being there for someone in need. 

Although my brother isn't here today, in light of this I hope that by raising awareness on this cause will eventually prevent suicide being a thought. It is ok not to be ok, but even in the darkest times there is light, you just have to find it. There are so many people that love and care for you and are willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
