Run, walk, dance and have fun at our 24 hour
Treadmill Challenge for Suicide Prevention

Tread Together is a national community suicide prevention event taking place on 25-26 May across hundreds of communities and involving thousands of Australians.

This event was started by community, for community. It has its roots back in 2013, when a group of friends from Maroubra in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, who were bereaved by suicide, started a 24-hour community treadmill challenge event to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention.

Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) acknowledges the founders of this event and the passion and effort of everyone who's been involved in the journey so far. Thank you for being part of creating Australia’s largest ever suicide prevention community challenge. We invite everyone in the country to be a part of Tread Together, as we continue to grow these events and engage even more Australians each year.

For the second year running, Suicide Prevention Australia is partnering with Anytime Fitness to hold this national 24-hour treadmill challenge event in support of suicide prevention.

The Tread Together event series will take place across hundreds of Anytime Fitness clubs throughout Australia, bringing together people from all across the country, moving as one to raise much-needed awareness of suicide and funds towards its prevention. If you don’t have a club in your area and want your community to get involved, just email us at and we will look at ways for you to take part.

Our heartfelt thanks goes to the Anytime Fitness clubs, members, staff and networks for their commitment to taking action in their communities to support more Australians to live.

Suicide Prevention Australia is the national leadership organisation for the suicide prevention sector in Australia. We work with our Members, governments, businesses and the wider community to deliver a meaningful reduction to the number of suicides, and support more people to live. Our vision is a world without suicide. We acknowledge the pain suicide brings when it comes into our lives and the hope that unites us.

Some of the work we do that your involvement in Tread Together will help support, includes:

  • Our work with Associate, Lived Experience and Organisational Members to advocate with all governments for improved policy settings and increased investment in suicide prevention
  • Facilitation of the national Lived Experience Network, which connects those working in suicide prevention with Australians who have a personal experience of suicide; and supporting these Network Members to influence change and inform suicide prevention through the sharing of their stories and expertise
  • Management of the National Suicide Prevention Research Fund to ensure research into suicide prevention area is prioritised, and every dollar spent efficiently when it comes to applying what works to increase wellbeing across diverse Australian communities
  • Development of a Suicide Prevention Hub of Best Practice Programs & Services, to support Australians to commission evaluated suicide prevention programs and services as well as increasing sector-wide quality in delivery
  • Delivery of the annual National Suicide Prevention Conference which brings together lived experience representatives, Government, academics, clinicians, practitioners, consumers, service providers, community leaders and others working in the sector to learn, share knowledge and best practice with one another in suicide prevention.

If you would like to know more about our work, please don’t hesitate to contact us either via email or by phone 02 9262 1130.
